Date Night

The other night Jackson and I went out for a night on the town. I love being with my oldest without any other distractions. He's such a quiet little guy most of the time, it's fun to have him all to myself and see him open up and talk about the things that he loves. We talked about basketball, school and even a little bit about girls (who are thankfully, dumb, at this point in his life).

We ended with a trip to his favorite ice cream shop to get a caramel shake for him and a chocolate m&m malt for his mom. I told him about my memories of coming there when I first moved to Logan. . . way back when Charlie's was pretty much the only joint in town!

After posing for a few goofy pictures, we were homeward bound. The more kids I have the harder it is to carve out the time for these one on one dates, but I appreciate them even more!

5 Month Old Stella

How did it happen that this girl is 5 whole months old?
That's almost half of a year. . . if you do the math.
I know it's cliche and all to say such a thing, but really. . . this 4th child of mine is growing up WAY too fast.
I look at her chunky monkey bod every day and think how it was just like 2 days ago that she was still in my belly. And now. . . she's huge!

We are completely smitten with this Stella girl. She is such a little sunshine and makes every one of us smile all day long!

Catching the Bunny

This is Lola.
Tonight. . . about 9:55 pm to be exact.
She has set up her post, and is convinced she is going to
catch the Easter Bunny when he pays our house a visit.
She made a construction paper carrot with which to lure him.
She has a camera ready for a photo op.
She put her bunny bank on the window sill, hoping he will think it's one of his friends and come in.
She requested loud music in her room so she didn't get tired and accidentally fall asleep.
I politely declined.

I wonder how late she will sit in her green chair watching?
What a funny girl!

Mischievousness from the Past

Please humor me while I take a trip down memory lane. . .
Today I came across these pictures of my Miles from ages ago.

I love that even back then he had that twinkle in his eye that showed how mischievous he was.

If I only knew what other tricks he had up that sleeve of his!
I think I might have been afraid.
Just maybe.

Oh
but he was the cutest little thing ever!
Am I right?
I kinda want to go back in time and squeeze that little ball of mini-Miles.
I love him and his larger than life personality to pieces.
What an adventure it is to be this lucky mom.

St George

We had so much fun spending time with Nate's parents in St George over Spring Break . The weather was amazing - it was so sunny and warm!

The kids love hiking in Snow Canyon. It's so beautiful there and Jackson and Miles become little monkeys running all over those red rocks. It scares me to death but I try to relax and let them have fun!

We spent hours at the pool. Even Stella loved swimming.

It was so great to have a little break from reality and even though there isn't much relaxing to be had when vacationing with Miles, it was still lots of fun!

My Girls

It was October 1996 and I was so excited to begin a new adventure at USU - new plates, dishes, bedspread and school clothes were packed and ready for my first time living on my own. I was going to be living with my friend Amber who I had been friends with in junior high but hadn't seen much of when our high school boundaries were split and we were sent to different schools.

On that very first day in Logan, I reconnected with Amber and met Brittney and Christina. Little did we all know that we would see each other through the next four years, virtually inseparable. My college experience was the best it could be: I look back on it with absolutely no regrets and only the best of memories - most including these girls. Life was easy, carefree and oh-so-much fun.

I have a hard time believing 15 years have passed. We have between all of us 11.5 kids. We are not nearly as crazy or energetic. We have added husbands all around. We live in Logan, Boise, and Kaysville, and don't see each other nearly enough.

We have seen each other through bad relationships, graduations, weddings, lost pregnancies, many moves, babies and now we watch Christina as she fights for her life. All those years ago we never could have predicted how life would turn out for each of us and how hard it would get. We also couldn't have known the rewards that were in store for each of us.

We had so much fun getting together last week. It seems like no time has passed at all - it's so great to spend time with people who know your history. Months have passed since we've seen each other but it's so easy to pick up right where we left off. I'm so grateful for these 3 girls and all that we share.
