Uhhh. . .

Today I took the boys to the pool. As we're standing in line waiting to go down the water slide, Miles suddenly noticed the extremely overweight teen-aged boy standing in line directly in front of us. I could see the wheels turning, unable to stop them before he blurts out, "that fat man!" I try to quietly whisper in his ear that saying things like that might hurt that nice boys feelings, but FAILED. Again, "that fat man, mommy!" Three times he states the obvious, me trying desperately by this point to distract him. I finally succeed in distracting him by asking him to try and find his cousins down in the pool below, hoping that the poor boy didn't hear, or understand, my 3 year olds lovely comments.

Has anyone else found yourself in a situation like this with your overly honest kids?

I was at the mall with my boys waiting to get pictures taken. I had just tried to teach my kids if they eat to much junk there bodies could get fat. Big mistake! They all of a sudden thought that was the funniest word in the world. So anyway Carter starts YELLIMG "mommy you are fat!" and giggles. He did it several times and I am trying desperately to get him quite before the entire mall thinks I have the meanest little boy in the world. The kiddie kandid girl comes out and just looks at me sympathetically. I was so ebarrassed! Regardless to the fact of whether or not I really am "Fat" which I hope I am not we are now using the word "BIG"!

It hasn't happened, YET! But it is only a matter of time, I'm sure. One time we were walking into the grocery store and I saw a man coming out with an eye patch, I immediately distracted Macy because I was pretty sure if she saw him there would have been a pirate comment, and she is not a quiet talker.

Not yet, but I have to share what a 7 year old girl said to me once. She lives in the apartment building next to us and came outside when I was out on the playground one day (babysitting Mason and Mari I think??). She kept telling her mom that I was Amy, her mom's visiting teacher who looks a lot like me. Her mom did her best to convince her that I wasn't Amy, but Bridget (the girl) was certain I was. "But Mom, she has the same hair, the same clothes, she walks the same way, and she has the same big red dot on her forehead!" referring to a zit that I THOUGHT was finally going away and HOPED was fairly unnoticeable. Apparently not. I think her mom was more embarrassed than I was. I think I fell over laughing! :)

Katie, yes but it was my 5 year old boy. There was about an 8 year old boy, and Jonah thought he looked so funny, trying to chase him down to show me. I kept trying to stop him but he had never seen anything like it and wanted everyone else to see it too. I could have killed him and cried for the boy. He also lets me know quite often that I have a fat tummy.

I'm sure you're wondering who I am...I love to read your funny blog stories. But don't be scared...I work with Tierra and you and I have actually had very brief conversations.
My little boy has done the same kind of thing. For some reason he is VERY aware of "big" people or very, very "skinny" people. He's 9 now and he's getting much better about knowing to keep quiet. Thanks for the funny story!
p.s. I think your little girl looks SO much like Tierra.
