Thinking Spring

I found this lovely little picture on one of my favorite blogs, Bakerella. All those spring colors just make me happy. . . despite the dreadful, color deprived, dullness that I find every time I look outside my window.

Here's hoping that Spring eventually decides to visit us!

Mountains of Snow

Thanks to that late March snowstorm, our family got one more day to play in the snow. We took the kids sledding after Nate got home from work. Only problem was that poor Miles and Lola, being the short little people that they are, could not even move in the snow since it was so deep!

Thin Mint's A-Plenty

I came home from Enrichment last night to this sight:

Nate had purchased 11, yes 11, boxes of Girl Scout Cookies.

I am aware that they are extremely delicious.

But still. Eleven boxes?

She's Off

At the end of February, we trekked down to Provo to drop my cute baby sister Elise off at the MTC. She's had her call to the Argentina, Cordoba mission for over 5 months and was so ready to get herself on her way. It was really hard for us all to say goodbye, especially since this was our first missionary, but she was so excited to embark on this new adventure. We'll have to find a way to live without her for a bit.

I remember so distinctly when she was born. I was 9 and the oldest in the family. This was back in the day before those newfangled ultrasound things, so as my mom headed to the hospital we didn't know what she was having. Already having 3 girls, we all were kind of hoping for a boy to join the clan. I remember my grandma coming into the room I shared with my sister Tierra late that night to give us the news. I remember exactly where I was laying on my top bunk with the pink handmade comforter on it. It was a girl. Oh how I wanted to be the brave older sister, but I remember sitting there crying silently because I was so sad!

I obviously got over it pretty quick, but I have often thought, especially recently, how grateful I am that she is who she is. I wouldn't trade her for any brother in the whole world!!!

Sunny St. George

We were lucky to escape the cold of Providence and head down to St. George for a few days to visit Nate's parents and enjoy some much appreciated sun. We had such a great time being with grandma and grandpa, eating good food, hiking around beautiful Snow Canyon, playing in the sand dunes, playing at the park with some friends, and doing plenty of swimming and hot tubbin'. It was so nice to be warm, to see green grass, and wear ourselves out running around outside. Lola couldn't get enough of swimming and would have worn her swimsuit the whole time if we'd let her. Miles loved eating at the Pirate Pizza place. And Jacks loved being able to wear shorts. . . even if it was still just a bit on the chilly side for summer apparel. We had so much fun with grandma and grandpa and are so grateful for a chance to spend time with them!

The only bad part of St. George? Coming home to 18 inches of winter.
