Memorial Day

On Memorial Day my parents took us waterskiing. My kids had the time of their lives on the lake for the first time this year. The water was freezing but it didn't stop anybody from jumping in!

Jackson loved going super fast in the tube and dancing to the tunes on the boat.

Miles loved when grandpa let him drive the boat all by himself and when he fell off the boat while we were sitting in the middle of the lake having lunch. Yes, he was wearing his life jacket.

Lola loved cuddling with granny with a big smile and her eyes scrunched closed because she was just a little scared.

Thanks mom and day for a fantastic day!

Grandma's 60th!

Last month we surprised Nate's cute mom Betty with a 60th birthday party at Maddox. The kids were so excited to keep a secret and help make her day fabulous.

We're so grateful for Betty. I definitely lucked out when it came to mother-in-laws!

Selling Nature

Yesterday afternoon my doorbell rang and I found 2 cute neighbor girls on my porch.

"We're selling Nature," said one, "want to buy some?"

A bit confused, I followed them out to my driveway where I found 2 big wagons full of all sorts of Nature. Old walnuts, big green maple leaves, 'airplane' maple seeds, and purple leaves were among their offerings.

For a whopping 35 cents I came away with quite an amazing display of Nature.

In all my years, I would have never come up with such an idea!

Butterflies and Swine Flu

An observation tonight from Jacks:

"Hey mom, did you know I saw a Monarch Butterfly outside today? Have you seen one of those yet this Spring? It must have just come back from Mexico.

Mom, do you think the butterflies in Mexico have the swine flu too?"

Apparently, my 6 year old has heard way too much about the swine flu.

Nate's Birthday

I'm so behind in posting this but on St. Patrick's Day we celebrated Nate's birthday. We surprised him at work with cake, balloons and our festive green selves! The kids all wanted to pick out something to give him. Jacks picked Oreos, Miles an Almond Joy candy bar and Lola? An apple. She was dead set on it. . . not sure why.

I'm so grateful to have Nate in my world. He's such a great dad. . . takes great care of me. . . always makes us laugh. . . and is my most favorite person to be with. I can't imagine life without him!

Happy Girl

We found out this weekend that Lola has asthma. We headed home from the doctor, the proud owners of a brand new nebulizer, and a cabinet full of prescriptions.

The first time I gave Lola a breathing treatment, I had to pin her down, hold every limb, keep the mask on her face and listen to her heartbreaking little cry. After a few minutes of that, she finally surrendered and let me just hold her, those big brown eyes staring sadly up at me.

The next time was a totally different program. She plopped down on the couch, scooted the machine over by her and held the little fishy mask on her face. She was so cute sitting there, all independent like.

Now she comes to me, every time she starts coughing, asking for more medicine. She has adapted so well as she realizes how much it helps her.

I'm so grateful for her happy soul, no matter the circumstance.
